What Is LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the world's largest online professional network having more than 300 million members located in over 200 countries. Founded in 2002 and launched in 2003, it has quickly grown to become a part of the modern day business culture, and has reached popularity levels close to that of Facebook and Twitter. According to Forbes, "LinkedIn is, far and away, the most advantageous social networking tool available to job seekers and business professionals today."

LinkedIn hopes to become and stay the world's primary location of professional records, and to also eventually become an online hub for knowledge and change in global thought. More and more professionals and pre-professionals are joining the site daily. Two new members join linked in every second!

The website is a great recruitment tool, (94 percent of recruiters use LinkedIn to vet candidates.) however it is not limited to this function. It is robust and can be just as effective in reaching new potential clients for your business.

Why Use LinkedIn?

Considering that at least half of LinkedIn members have decision-making authority for their company, LinkedIn is a great place to connect with individuals who may be part of your target market. People you add or accept into your professional network have a level of trust with you, and you can then broadcast your message to them all at once and feel good about it.

Not only is LinkedIn a good place to get your product or service noticed by potential clients, but it can also be utilized to find a joint venture or partnership.
