When LinkedIn opened up their publishing platform to the public in February of 2014, they allowed their site to become something much more than a hot bed for recruiters and job seekers.

With Pulse, Slideshare and Influencers before it, user updates has established LinkedIn as a publishing platform for innovative ideas and news. By opening that platform to all businesses and personnel using LinkedIn, it has quickly become an integral tool for digital marketing.

People are now consuming content on LinkedIn, and in order to establish your own business as a professional leader in your industry a killer LinkedIn page is needed. Here are some tips on how you can develop a standout LinkedIn Company page.

Choose a great cover image

Choose something indicative of your company/brand, but not your logo. Your logo will have it;’s own home at above your cover image.  A good rule of thumb is to think professional, but similar to the cover images that you have chosen across your other social media platforms.

Don’t skip the details

Craft a really smart and direct “about me” paragraph. This could be lifted from your branded about me or could be your value and mission statement.

If you have a core set of values and a mission that resonate well with your customers and drives their loyalty, they should be included on your LinkedIn page. It serves to tell possible readers and customers the how and why of your business up front.

When filling out the specialties section, ensure to include all areas that your business excels in to maximize reach and to target the right audiences.

Populate your page with stories

In other words, write blogs on topics relevant to your industry and share them on your business's page. Share events, milestones and good news too. Make sure your content is professional and demographic appropriate. Content done well on LinkedIn is focused on business information rather than content like consumer shareables.

Video is also a great medium on LinkedIn. Videos can be used in your “about section” as well as your “recent updates” section.

Here’s a huge tip for publishing  - you need to be consistent.

Take advantage of the pinned updates feature

If your company releases a new product, ebook or has groundbreaking news to share, you can pin it to the top of your page. This way, when people arrive to your company page, they learn about the subject of that new article first thing.

Consider sponsored updates

Sponsored updates are how you can get your updates seen by more people and perhaps attract new followers. With targeting options and a budget set by you, it's offer just another way to drive your online leads.
