How Do I Know if My Content is Quality Content?

Content is soup du jour in the marketing world, but really it isn't all just about content. It is about quality content. So how can you be sure that what you are doing is working for your business?

How did you decide to write about it?

One of the fail-safe methods of ensuring your content is worthwhile is if you are answering a question that you are asked by your prospects, leads and clients. If you are not currently offering the answer, they will ask the question. Use your content strategy to let them know you are listening.

Are you engaged writing it?

If you aren't excited about what you have to say, why would you expect anyone else to be? You have to consider your topics and then get your head in the game. A boring blog post is often the result of a bored writer. Get yourself amped up about the dose of awesome you are about to drop for your readers to enjoy!

Make it matter.

If what your saying has no relevance to your readers, then who cares? Are you writing about things just to write about them? If this is the case, don't send us your blog URL because we won't get through the first paragraph. Write about things because they are helpful, interesting, informative and important. You are asking people to spend their time reading your content... make it count!

Can you make it relatable?

One strategy that we often approach with clients, especially those who have what they decide is "boring subject matter," is to relate the product or service to something that people can easily relate to. Are you in the manufacturing business? Those labourious tasks that are founded in the finest detail and similar to that difficult to master recipe, the finesse of a perfect lawn, painting the trim in your home, editing your belongings for a yard sale, etc etc etc. Think of the title "What your perfect lawn can learn from this manufacturers quality process" compared to "Quality and peace of mind are key with our products." One has me interested while the other is a bonafide snoozer.

Spice it up with images and video.

This is one of the best ways to get around the content conundrum. We worked with a printing company and we had them search for beauty in their everyday. We curated a page on their website that showcased the beautiful images captured on smartphones throughout their warehouse and it was a smash hit! Their social media strategy continues to use this concept and we finished up our strategy work with them over a year ago!
