Creating a Home for your Business

Hughes & Co. is moving on up into a brand new office space this week and we couldn't be more excited! Being the creatives that we are, we've been thinking a lot about how we want our new digs to reflect us while being the productive and well-designed work space we need to keep pumping out the quality content you all know and love.

When it comes to your office space, not only can it impress your clients and give your business credibility, it also ties directly to the productivity and efficiency of your team. So, what do you need to think about when it comes to creating the best space for your needs?

Boost team spirit and morale

It sounds crazy to say out loud, but it's not uncommon for people to spend more time at work than they do at home. So, with that in mind, it's important that your office space is comfortable, practical and inspiring. You want your office to be somewhere your team wants to be, not some where they have to be. Isn't it easier to be productive in a comfortable  and attractive space instead of a boring cramped cubicle?

Cater to your clients

When your clients come to your office, first impressions count and their opinions will start as soon as they walk in the door and take in your space. A beautifully designed office makes your business look impressive, professional and, most importantly, successful. Your office portrays your philosophy to your clients and starts building your trust as soon as they walk in the door.

Invest in your success

Money spent on your office space is money well spent. You are investing in your the success of your business when you invest in your office. As I said above, a well put together office is a productive and credible office. It isn't just about your office furniture, it's the personal touches that pull everything together. Bring in art, lighting, rugs, plants and signage that fully reflect your vision.

Keep it clean

Once you have created the office of your dreams, keep it clean and organized. Again, we're talking about productivity and presentation here. By throwing out anything you no longer need and storing anything you don't need often, you'll not only see your team's productivity sky rocket, but you'll be bound to impress any visitors with your office organization. An organized office reflects an organized business, after all.

Reflect what you do

Your office is a direct representation of your business and industry. For example, being in the creative industry, Hughes & Co. is excited to bring in pops of colour with a sleek design that reflects our recent rebrand that we love. If you work in a more traditional line of business - a law office, for instance - keep it comfortable but professional. There are no real rules when it comes to office design though, so just keep it inviting, comfortable and reflective of your office's working culture.

Whether you are moving into a new space or thinking about an office redesign, your refreshed space can breathe new life into your work space. And the new found inspiration you'll have coming into work every day? Worth every penny.
